The WC&PR was an unusual independent light railway linking three North Somerset coastal towns. First planned in 1884, it opened in 1897 and closed in 1940. It was quaint and colourful and was operated on a shoestring. WC&P Railway Group The WC&P Railway Group was launched in November 2006 for people interested in the Weston, Clevedon & Portishead Railway. We are dedicated to the preservation of this railway as far as is practicable, and of keeping the memory alive. We currently have about 160 members.
